To All Food Companies in Sanchi Areas(Production Areas)
"Proposal from the Sanchi Area!"
The Passion Behind the Founding of Sanchi Stories
I was born in Aomori and raised in Iwate. Growing up with people in the fisheries industry from the Sanriku region around me, I developed an interest in the fisheries sector. Around 2006, I traveled from Nemuro in Hokkaido to Choshi in Chiba Prefecture, visiting 13 fishing ports to listen to the stories of fishermen and seafood processors. During this time, I learned that a Pacific saury sold for 10 yen per fish at the production area is sold for 100 yen, ten times more, in the consumption area. At the same time, I realized that the businesses in the production areas were facing increasingly tough conditions each year. This made me think that the production areas needed to develop their own sales channels.
In Iwate Prefecture, few companies in production areas have expanded their sales channels nationwide. Many of the companies, not limited to food companies, are subcontractors. Furthermore, many young talents were moving to the cities.
After graduating from university, I worked at a major seafood trading company for eight years, where I learned the basics of sales and the know-how of recruitment and training. After that, I was given the opportunity to establish a Tokyo sales office for a seafood company in Iwate Prefecture, and I dedicated eight years to this project. During this time, my personal theme was how to propose value-added products from production areas in a way that would generate profits, and I took on various challenges.
I believe that now is a time of great transformation for food companies in production areas.
Due to the depletion of natural resources and the advancement of global warming, the resources that have taken root in production areas are being greatly shaken. It is anticipated that food companies in production areas, which have relied on local resources, will find it difficult to continue their business by maintaining the status quo.
We want to become partners with food companies in production areas that have the desire to challenge themselves with new sales channels, new raw materials, and new product development.
To achieve this, our company decided not to engage in trading businesses that enter the distribution stream and take profits, but rather to focus on organizing and acting as agents for product planning and sales channel development specifically for food companies in production areas. Our goal is to maximize the network of sales destinations both domestically and internationally, organize this information, and make it searchable. By utilizing our network together with our sales team, production area companies can repeatedly engage in product planning and proposals, ultimately building optimal sales channels.
It is our wish and goal at Sanchi Stories to increase the number of young people in production areas who are excited about the challenges of local companies.
